We love reusable water bottles, but the reality is there are still a lot of plastic water bottles out there. We can recycle them or, in this case, use them to create something fun! For this water bottle craft, we’re going to make beautiful flowers!
This craft can be done using the leftover bottle pieces from our water bottle fish craft, or as a prelude to our recycled bottle fairy/gnome house project.
What You’ll Need
- Recycled plastic water bottles
- Scissors
- Paint and brushes or markers
- Popsicle sticks (optional)
- Newspaper or something to cover work surface
Helpful Tip: Wash or sanitize your bottle and let it dry completely before starting this craft.
Instructions
Step 1
If you’re starting this craft after doing the recycled bottle fish, you already have the water bottle bottoms ready to use. If not, cut the bottom off of the bottle, about an inch or so up (or however much/little you want).
Helpful Tip: Save the cut bottles off for another craft.
Step 2
Cut the water bottle bottoms anyway you’d like to make petals, or leave them as is if they’re too small to cut petals.
Helpful Tip: Cut along the ridges of the bottle to create petals. You can cut every single one for smaller petals, or every other for larger petals.
Step 3
Time to add some color! Paint whatever you’re feeling, get inspired by a memory or observation, or look up specific flowers.
Optional Step
At this point, your flowers are complete!
If you want to put your flowers on display, you have lots of options!
- Attach popsicle sticks and put your flowers in planters, flower beds or the yard.
- Punch holes in the flowers and attach string to hang them.
- Attach magnets to the back and stick them on the fridge.
