As of 12:01 a.m. Saturday, January 20, all national parks will be closed due to the federal government shutdown. We want you to be aware of what you can expect at Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Our offices will remain open as regularly scheduled during the shutdown and we will keep up-to-date information on Facebook.
Trail Accessibility
While trails and trailheads are still open to the public, we remind you that a shutdown requires many rangers to be on furlough. There will be no guidance, assistance, maintenance, or emergency response from NPS. If visiting the park and utilizing any of its properties, it is at your sole risk.
- All trails will remain open for usage.
- All trailheads will remain open. If there is snow accumulation during the shutdown, snow plowing will not occur and may cause trailhead closures.
- All facilities will be closed, including bathrooms and shelters.
Ranger-Led Activities
- All ranger-led activities will be canceled; including Jr. Ranger Jr. Shape of Snow scheduled for January 20 at 9:30 a.m.
Conservancy Events
- All Conservancy events and programs will continue as planned, including the following:
- House Concert on Sunday, January 21
- Dinner in the Valley: Alpine Ski Dinner on January 23 and 24
- See all of our events >
- The Stanford House will remain open for groups with existing reservations
Volunteer Program
- All Cuyahoga Valley National Park volunteer activities will be canceled.
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad
- Train Excursions will continue as scheduled.
Cuyahoga Valley Countryside Conservancy
- Farmers’ Market at Old Trail School on January 20, 9 a.m. to noon will occur.
Despite the shutdown, there are still plenty of opportunities to have a safe, fun adventure in Cuyahoga Valley National Park this weekend, and ways for us to continue to make a difference in supporting our national parks.
