Solar Eclipse Science with Cleveland Museum of Natural History
February 3 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Event Navigation
Just after 3pm on the afternoon of April 8, 2024, for as long as nearly 4 minutes (depending on your location) the moon will completely cover the sun in a swath of northeastern Ohio. The sky will grow dark, the stars will come out, animals will think night has fallen, and it will briefly be safe to look directly at the shadowed sun during this total solar eclipse when the spectacular solar corona will be visible. A total solar eclipse is one of the most amazing astronomical phenomena visible with the naked eye from earth and those in the path of totality will have a front row seat!
Astronomer Monica Marshall, from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, will explain the science behind this remarkable phenomenon and will also discuss the importance of embracing the dark as we prepare to experience several minutes of darkness during the day in Northeast Ohio on April 8.
