Recreation as a Human Right: Camp Mueller

January 30, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Rasul A. Mowatt

Did you know one of the first African American outdoor camps in the nation, Camp Mueller, was located within the Cuyahoga Valley? Join Dr. Rasul A. Mowatt for a discussion on the camp to learn how its history is not only significant to Cuyahoga Valley National Park (CVNP) but to the broader history of Cleveland as well.

As co-principal investigator, Dr. Mowatt led a study examining historical records around Camp Mueller, highlighting the need to further interpret and preserve African American history in and near CVNP.
