Habitat Restoration for CVNP – Saturday morning
May 22, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
FreeEvent Navigation
You are restoring the natural habitat of your park and benefiting the environment!
Habitat restoration in CVNP takes different forms. Invasive species overcrowd native species, making it difficult for them to thrive, which in turn affects the wildlife in the ecosystem. Your efforts in Invasive Plant Removal projects will help improve soil quality, revive native plant populations, and create better habitat for native wildlife. Tree planting projects help reduce erosion and fill in the tree canopy to create a less fragmented ecosystem.
** Project to be determined closer to event date based on current need and materials of CVNP**
You will use hand tools such as loppers and saws to remove invasive plants or shovels to dig holes for trees. Suitable for ages 10 and up. Volunteers who are 10-15 years of age must have parent or guardian supervision at the project site.. Volunteers who are 16-18 years of age are only required to have a parent or guardian sign their Volunteer Agreement form.
**Advanced registration is required for all individuals. Group sizes are small, and have a strict attendance cap. Only volunteers who pre-registered will be permitted to participate. Outdoor work gloves and eye protection will be provided, but to reduce contact, volunteers are permitted to bring personal equipment. Face masks are encouraged, and required when adequate social distance cannot be maintained. Be sure to bring adequate water.**
